Summary:

 

Coordinates the implementation of testing and school accountability requirements.          

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Eligible for or hold a Virginia license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful full-time experience as a teacher or school counselor at the middle or high school level.  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Demonstrates knowledge in assessing student academic performance based on the Virginia Standards of Learning Assessment Program.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current research and trends in education with special emphasis on curriculum, instruction and training, student assessment data, testing practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of computer usage to include Internet, Intranet, Excel, Google Sheets, and office applications and familiarity with computerized testing programs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, students, and parent organizations in ensuring effective implementation of the SOL assessment program.
  • Demonstrates skills in identifying problems, developing plans, reading and interpreting data in order to maximize instruction to benefit students and staff.
  • Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

 

Essential Duties

 

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Coordinates the fall, winter, and spring Standards of Learning (SOL) Assessment Program (to include VESOL and VAAP).
  • Attends state and/or district training for SOL test administration.
  • Works with Director of Assessment, Reporting and Program Evaluation, and Division Director of Testing to determine assessment needs of the school.
  • Maintains security of the Standards of Learning assessment program.
  • Coordinates with building-level staff (school leadership team, content lead teachers, and counseling) to prepare school for test administration.
  • Develop school-wide testing schedule to include training for students and staff.
  • Works with Lead Counselor to determine testing needs of the school.
  • Serves as site coordinator for NAEP and WIDA testing.
  • Manages the ordering, receiving, distribution and administration of test materials.
  • Provides student data to the Director of Assessment, Reporting and Program Evaluation and for SOL test registration and ordering.
  • Provides training workshops on test administration and data analysis.
  • Trains staff in preparing for and administering SOL test administrations to include: Virginia Growth Assessments, Non-Writing Assessments, Expedited Retakes fall, winter and spring test windows.
  • Works with technology staff to ensure preparation and operability of computers and network for online testing.
  • Works with the Special Education Department Chair and EL Lead Teacher to identify and provide testing accommodations for all tests.
  • Uses SOL test results to determine retest opportunities.
  • Collaborates with school staff in setting up remediation programs and testing.
  • Assists school staff in reviewing, analyzing reports and interpreting school test data.
  • Provides and coordinates testing opportunities for students requiring make-up testing, retests, or expedited retakes.
  • Communicates information related to SOL testing resources, changes in testing requirements, and distribution of test scores
  • Resolves all testing-related concerns in coordination with the Division Director of Testing.
  • Completes SOL data verification, in collaboration with principal as needed, once testing is complete
  • Complies with all state, division and school policies/regulations.
  • Adheres to guidelines of confidentiality as outlined in federal and state laws and School Board Policies and Regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to student supervision before and after school, during transitions, and lunch periods.

Pay Rate:

Teacher Salary Scale (credit is based on years of full-time experience in a related position)

 

 

Contract:
Full time / 11 months / 220 days

This newly approved position is effective with the 2024-2025 school year
