Summary:
Flex Substitute Teachers are full-time employees who are assigned to one school and report to the school daily. Substitutes are responsible for implementing teacher-created lesson plans or providing instructional support in the absence of a regular classroom teacher or classroom support staff.
Qualifications:
- High School degree/GED required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age or have completed two years of college (minimum 48 credit hours).
- Valid teaching license or eligibility for teaching license preferred. Candidates without prior teaching experience or a teaching license must complete or provide proof of completion of a substitute training course or college course in classroom management.
- Previous successful work with children; experience in a public school system preferred.
- Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom and respond to emergency situations in a calm manner.
- Able to follow oral and written directions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
- Able to operate computer technology as directed by the school and as required to follow lesson plans.
- Flexible and open to working in a different classroom each day based on the needs of the school.
Essential Duties:
- Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.
- Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate and organizes and groups students for effective instruction. Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
- Ensures that learning is appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Implements effective pupil management procedures and ensures the adequate supervision of all students. Maintains high standards and upholds the student conduct code.
- Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to an administrator immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Maintains a positive learning environment and ensures classroom procedures that fosters a safe and respectful climate for all students and staff.
- Complies with all building procedures and schedules. Promotes the proper use and care of school property.
- Works cooperatively with staff and parents.
- Incorporates the effective use of available technology.
- Makes the absent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.
- Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.
- Attends to all non-teaching duties when assigned

The salary range is $21,393 - $36,047
